TOP 101

2012 feb 28 Property Investment Tips Part I: TOP 101 How do you know if your precious new home is about to be ready for key collection? 1. Check the sales brochure Usually on the last page or so, there will be Building Plan Approval number A1234-00567-2011 or something similar. Note this down. If you don't have the brochure, or lost it, or because you bought subsale and the owner wanted to keep for memento, don't fret. If you are clever, you would have thought of downloading the brochure softcopy online at property launch sites like, well what else, www.propertylaunch.sg for example... 2. Check the construction site board If you don't have internet (???) or simply refuse to touch electronics (how on earth are you here reading this then??), then take a stroll to your beloved project construction site and take a look at the white board with black words on it. This is usually sited right beside the main gate of the site. Some fishy developers (either cause proje...

'Swiss army' style apartment

2012 feb 24 http://shoeboxdwelling.com/2012/02/24/swiss-army-style-apartment/ This New York studio renovation is an extraordinary account of human ingenuity. A tiny 550 square feet Gramercy apartment with an awkward layout, typical for old prewar buildings, has been turned into a spacious multifunctional pad. The square footage hasn’t changed, but what a transformation! The place now includes a fully functional living room, bedroom, children’s room, home office, even a dining room (which can seat 7 people!). And, of course, storage. Lots of it. I would hav...

Prices for small apartments islandwide as well as for larger apartments outside the Central Region rose about twice as fast as prices of larger apartments in the Central Region last year. This trend, while similar to the one in 2010, was more pronounced last year. According to flash estimates released by the National University of Singapore for its Singapore Residential Price Index (SRPI) series, the sub-index for small apartments islandwide (up to 506 square feet) rose 11.8 per cent for the whole of 2011. Central Region comprises Districts 1-4 (which includes the financial district and Sentosa Cove) and the traditional prime residential districts of 9, 10 and 11. The overall SRPI rose 9.2 per cent last year. SRPI tracks pric...
